Volunteer Social Media Manager

As a Volunteer Social Media Manager for RISEC Community Foundation, you will play a pivotal role in our mission by managing our social media presence, creating engaging content, and moderating online communities. You will also collaborate with teams to spread awareness about our events and initiatives, ultimately helping us reach and support more newcomers across Canada.
- Content Creation: Develop creative and engaging content for our social media platforms, including posts, graphics, videos, and stories.
- Community Moderation: Monitor and moderate social media groups and pages to ensure a positive and inclusive online environment for our community members.
- Strategic Planning: Assist in developing social media strategies to increase reach, engagement, and impact.
- Team Development: Recruit and coordinate teams of volunteers to assist in spreading the word about our events and initiatives on social media.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other teams within the organization to align social media efforts with overall goals and objectives.
- Analytics and Reporting: Track and analyze social media metrics to measure the effectiveness of our campaigns and identify areas for improvement.
- Responding to Inquiries: Respond promptly to inquiries and messages received through social media platforms, providing helpful and accurate information to our audience.
- Social Media Expertise: Proficiency in managing and creating content for various social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey messages clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
- Community Management: Experience in moderating online communities and engaging with followers in a positive and respectful manner.
- Creativity: Ability to think creatively and develop engaging content that resonates with our target audience.

Your efforts will directly contribute to connecting newcomers with employment opportunities and fostering a welcoming and inclusive community.
- Volunteer Recruitment: Actively recruit volunteers to participate in our job fair events through various channels such as online platforms, community outreach, and networking events.
- Engagement: Maintain regular communication with potential volunteers to provide information about our organization’s mission, the benefits of volunteering, and details about upcoming job fair events.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the volunteer coordination team to ensure the recruitment process aligns with the organization’s needs and goals.
- Event Promotion: Assist in promoting job fair events to attract both volunteers and job seekers within the newcomer community.
Documentation: Keep accurate records of volunteer recruitment efforts, including contact information, outreach methods, and volunteer commitments.

As a Research Volunteer, you will play a pivotal role in identifying and documenting key government and nonprofit resources for settlement and housing support for newcomers in Canada, organized by province.
This role is integral to creating a comprehensive guide for newcomers, enabling them to find essential resources for their housing and settlement needs.
- Conduct thorough research to identify government programs and services related to settlement and housing support for newcomers in each Canadian province.
- Investigate nonprofit organizations that provide housing assistance, settlement services, and related support to newcomers.
- Compile a structured database or document listing these resources, categorized by province and type of support. Use the following Google sheet database: Supplemental: RISEC Settlement Database
- Ensure the information is accurate, current, and easily accessible.
- Provide weekly progress reports to the volunteer coordinator or project lead, highlighting key findings.
- Strong research and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Interest or experience in issues related to settlement, housing, and immigration.
- Familiarity with online research tools and database management is an advantage.
- Commitment to supporting the mission of the organization through volunteer work.
