Empowering Newcomers to Thrive in Canada

Welcome to the 1000 Seeds initiative, a transformative program by RISEC Community Foundation designed to help 1000 newcomers each year secure professional careers in Canada. We recognize the challenges that newcomers face when integrating into a new country, and our goal is to provide the support and resources needed to turn those challenges into opportunities. Through a structured four-phase approach, we guide participants from preparation to employment, ensuring they are equipped for success in their new home.

  • Phase 1: Preparation

Our journey begins with preparation. We offer career assessments to understand each participant's skills, qualifications, and aspirations. Through tailored workshops on resume writing, interview techniques, and Canadian workplace culture, we prepare newcomers for the job market. Additionally, we provide language support to improve English or French proficiency, ensuring participants are ready to communicate effectively in their professional environments.

  • Phase 2: Admission

In the admission phase, we facilitate access to essential educational programs and certifications. We've partnered with experienced and professional education placement agencies who offer expert career guidance and financial aid preparation support for free. Our team provides educational counseling to help participants choose and apply for relevant courses, certifications, or degrees. We collaborate with these agencies to secure spots for our participants and assist them in finding scholarships, grants, or other financial aid options to support their studies.

  • Phase 3: Immersion

Immersion is about integrating newcomers into the Canadian professional environment. We arrange internships and cooperative education placements in various industries, organize networking events to connect participants with industry professionals, and pair them with mentors who offer guidance and support. This phase is crucial for gaining practical experience and building professional networks.

  • Phase 4: Employment

The final phase focuses on securing full-time professional employment. Our volunteer support team for job placement, along with our job placement services partners, will assist with job searches, applications, and interview preparations. We work with employers to identify job openings and promote the hiring of program participants. Even after securing employment, we provide continued support to ensure a smooth transition and long-term success.

Long-Term Goal

Our long-term vision is to expand the 1000 Seeds initiative to all major cities across Canada, helping even more newcomers build successful professional careers and contribute to the vibrant Canadian economy. Join us on this journey to professional success and make Canada your home.

The 1000 Seeds initiative is committed to empowering newcomers, helping them achieve their career goals, and making a lasting impact on communities throughout the country.
