Position Overview:

RISEC Community Foundation is seeking a highly organized and experienced Executive HR Representative to build and lead our HR team. This volunteer position plays a critical role in strengthening our human resource functions by ensuring the recruitment, coordination, and evaluation of HR team members. The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader with extensive experience in HR and a passion for community development.

While this position starts as a volunteer role, it has the potential to transition into a full-time paid position once government funding is secured.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment & Hiring: Lead the recruitment process to build a strong HR team, ensuring qualified candidates align with RISEC’s mission.
  • HR Team Leadership & Coordination: Provide strategic guidance to HR team members, ensuring seamless collaboration and performance across all HR functions.
  • Performance Evaluation & HR Effectiveness: Assess and evaluate the efficiency and impact of HR initiatives, making improvements where necessary.
  • HR Policy & Compliance: Ensure HR practices comply with Canadian labor laws and non-profit regulations.
  • Training & Development: Develop and oversee training programs to enhance HR team effectiveness and support volunteers and staff.
  • Strategic HR Planning: Work closely with leadership to design and implement HR strategies aligned with RISEC’s long-term goals.
  • Volunteer & Employee Engagement: Promote a positive and inclusive culture within the organization, ensuring high engagement and retention of team members.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Education: Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Canadian HR education preferred) – nice to have
  • Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of HR experience, preferably in a non-profit or community-based setting.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • References: A minimum of two professional references are required.
  • Background Check: This may be required due to the nature of the role and access to sensitive information.
  • Commitment: Availability for a minimum of 5 hours per week for a six-month period, which will automatically renew unless informed otherwise.
