We strive to create opportunities for families, especially newcomers, to thrive by providing resources, workshops, and community engagement programs that make a difference in their integration journey.
Position Overview:
The Volunteer Event Planner/Coordinator will support the successful execution of the Thrive in Canada (TiC) initiative by planning and promoting events that help newcomers thrive in their settlement journey. This role involves coordinating with speakers and managing event logistics, promoting the events on various online platforms, and providing support to attendees. The Event Planner/Coordinator will play a key role in gathering feedback and enhancing future workshops to improve their impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Event Promotion
- Promote events on various platforms such as Facebook, Eventbrite, and other relevant outlets to maximize outreach and participation.
Event Coordination
- Work closely with the Program Manager to organize event logistics, including managing speakers, planning workshops, and coordinating necessary materials.
Attendee Support
- Answer attendee inquiries and provide assistance before, during, and after events.
- Conduct follow-up surveys to collect feedback and identify areas for improvement.
Technical Support
- Set up and manage virtual meetings using platforms such as Zoom or Google Meet.
- Create and manage event listings and registrations on online platforms like Eventbrite.
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in using online platforms such as Facebook, Eventbrite, Zoom, and Google Meet.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Passionate about supporting newcomers and community engagement.
Volunteer Commitment:
- Minimum of 5 hours per week, with flexible scheduling.
- All responsibilities can be fulfilled remotely.
Additional Notes:
- This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in event planning and project coordination.
- Volunteers will have the chance to engage with diverse communities, develop new skills, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of newcomers.
