About the Program:

The RISEC Youth Leadership and Excellence Awards (RYLE Awards) is a program that recognizes and awards young newcomers who are excelling academically, in the community, or in sports. The program aims to identify and celebrate top newcomer performers, initially in Calgary, Alberta, with plans to expand across Canada. In 2025, the goal is to recognize up to 30 individuals with a minimum of $1,000 scholarship each.

Job Summary:

The Volunteer Coordinator recruits, trains, and manages volunteers to assist with various program activities, including event support, promotion, and outreach.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a volunteer recruitment strategy.
  • Recruit volunteers through various channels (e.g., online platforms, community outreach).
  • Screen and interview potential volunteers.
  • Conduct volunteer orientation and training sessions.
  • Assign volunteer roles and responsibilities.
  • Schedule and coordinate volunteer activities and shifts.
  • Supervise and support volunteers during events and activities.
  • Communicate regularly with volunteers and provide updates.
  • Evaluate volunteer performance and provide feedback.
  • Recognize and appreciate volunteer contributions.
  • Maintain accurate records of volunteer information and hours.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to motivate and manage volunteers.
  • Experience in recruitment and training (preferred).
  • Passion for supporting newcomer youth.
  • Patience and understanding when working with diverse groups.
