Role Overview
RISEC Community Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the successful transition of newcomers in Canada, providing them with the resources, guidance, and support they need for settlement, education, and career success. Our goal is to foster a welcoming and inclusive community for all newcomers.
Position Description
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated volunteer Content Writer to contribute to our organization’s magazine. The magazine serves as a key resource for newcomers, providing valuable information on settlement, education, career development, and community integration. As a Content Writer, you will research and write articles that are both informative and engaging, covering topics that are important to newcomers. You will also conduct interviews with key figures in the community, including local leaders, educators, employers, and successful immigrants, to share insights and advice with our readers.
Responsibilities
- Research, write, and edit high-quality articles on topics relevant to newcomers in Canada, including settlement, education, career development, cultural integration, and local resources.
- Conduct interviews with key community figures to gather insights and advice for newcomers.
- Collaborate with the editorial team to brainstorm article ideas and ensure consistent content quality and messaging.
- Ensure all content aligns with the organization’s mission and values, providing accurate and helpful information to our audience.
- Adhere to established deadlines for article submission and editing.
- Participate in regular meetings with the editorial team to discuss content strategy and planning.
Qualifications
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce clear, engaging, and accurate content.
- Excellent research skills, with the ability to gather information from various sources and synthesize it into informative articles.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to conduct interviews and build relationships with key community figures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- A passion for supporting newcomers and a commitment to the organization’s mission.
- Experience in journalism, content writing, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
