Role Overview

As a Research Volunteer, you will play a pivotal role in identifying and documenting key government and nonprofit resources for settlement and housing support for newcomers in Canada, organized by province. 

This role is integral to creating a comprehensive guide for newcomers, enabling them to find essential resources for their housing and settlement needs.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough research to identify government programs and services related to settlement and housing support for newcomers in each Canadian province.
  • Investigate nonprofit organizations that provide housing assistance, settlement services, and related support to newcomers.
  • Compile a structured database or document listing these resources, categorized by province and type of support. Use the following Google sheet database:  Supplemental:  RISEC Settlement Database
  • Ensure the information is accurate, current, and easily accessible.
  • Provide weekly progress reports to the volunteer coordinator or project lead, highlighting key findings.

Qualifications

  • Strong research and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Interest or experience in issues related to settlement, housing, and immigration.
  • Familiarity with online research tools and database management is an advantage.
  • Commitment to supporting the mission of the organization through volunteer work.
