We are excited to welcome Olawumi Akingbade to our Canadian Horizons team at RISEC Community Foundation as our new Human Resources Manager. With over five years of extensive experience in full-cycle recruitment, employee relations, and HR strategy implementation, Olawumi brings a wealth of knowledge and a dynamic approach to managing our HR functions.

Olawumi’s professional journey showcases her expertise in leading recruitment processes across various industries, significantly reducing average hiring times from 12 to just 5 weeks. She has managed high-volume recruitment campaigns, consistently filling an average of 80 positions annually. Her proactive approach in developing recruitment marketing strategies ensures a robust and diverse candidate pipeline, while her strong focus on candidate experience management helps position organizations as employers of choice. Her ability to build and maintain strategic partnerships with hiring managers has been instrumental in aligning recruitment efforts with organizational goals, fostering high-performing teams, and supporting growth.

Olawumi is skilled in utilizing data analytics to enhance recruitment strategies and improve decision-making. She has a proven track record of leveraging data to report on Key Performance Indicators, providing actionable insights to refine hiring strategies and ensure alignment with organizational objectives. Her analytical mindset is complemented by a deep understanding of market trends, enabling her to offer informed recruitment recommendations that drive successful outcomes.

Her experience also includes navigating complex recruitment within unionized environments, ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements, and building positive relationships with union representatives. She has demonstrated her ability to adapt and thrive in challenging settings by managing diverse recruitment needs and maintaining compliance with labor laws and policies.

Olawumi’s prior roles have also seen her implement innovative HR strategies, such as developing and enhancing employee retention initiatives by training over 30 mentors to support new hires. Her dedication to improving employee engagement and retention is reflected in her approach to human resources management, where she emphasizes fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment.

Her academic credentials, including a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Lagos and certifications in human resources from the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, further solidify her expertise in this field. She continues to pursue professional development, recently completing courses in HR policies, talent acquisition, and payroll management.
