Welcome Our New Content Writer – Canadian Horizons Magazine, Melita Camba!

We are thrilled to announce that Melita Camba has joined RISEC Community Foundation as our newest Content Writer. Melita brings a wealth of experience and dedication to our team, and we are excited to have her on board.

Melita is a dedicated professional with strong communication and organizational skills. She is known for her caring and compassionate nature, attention to detail, and strong work ethic. Melita holds a Diploma in Community Support and Addictions Work from AGA Academy in Calgary, Alberta, where she was awarded the Gold Medal for Academic Excellence in July 2022. She completed her practicum at the Calgary Drop-In Centre, demonstrating her commitment to supporting vulnerable populations. Additionally, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the University of San Agustin in Iloilo City, Philippines.

Melita’s volunteer work reflects her dedication to community service. She has contributed her time and skills to The Mustard Seed – Foothills Shelter, Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association, and Hope Mission Calgary. These experiences have allowed her to develop a deep understanding of the challenges faced by newcomers and marginalized individuals, aligning perfectly with RISEC’s mission to support families of newcomers by providing opportunities for growth and integration.

Professionally, Melita has a diverse background. Since October 2016, she has been working as a Dining Room Staff member at Staywell Manor Village, a retirement community in Calgary. In this role, she helps organize the dining room, ensures it is safe and clean for residents, and provides an excellent dining experience. Her responsibilities include preparing and serving food and drinks, taking orders, and managing billing. Prior to this, Melita worked as a Front Store Associate at Tim Hortons in Marlborough Mall, where she gained experience in customer service and food preparation.

Melita also has significant experience in the banking sector. She worked as a Loans Compliance and Review Officer at BDO Unibank, Inc. in Iloilo City, Philippines, from 2008 to 2014. In this role, she conducted independent reviews of loan accounts, ensuring compliance with the bank’s credit policies. Before that, she was a Loans Account Officer at the Philippine Bank of Communications, where she evaluated creditworthiness and processed loan applications.

Melita’s diverse experience, coupled with her passion for helping others, makes her an excellent fit for our team. We are confident that her contributions as a Content Writer will enhance our efforts to support newcomers and their families. Please join us in welcoming Melita to the RISEC family!
