We are delighted to announce that Hon Yau has joined the RISEC Community Foundation as Project Manager for the Thrive in Canada team. Hon brings over 10 years of experience in project management and business analysis, with an impressive background in software, healthcare, and retail sectors. His expertise in both Agile and Waterfall methodologies, combined with his use of tools like JIRA, Confluence, Power BI, and Notion, positions him to lead complex projects with clarity, efficiency, and precision.
Most recently, Hon served as Project Manager at Blaze Performance, where he successfully implemented a new agile workflow and developed detailed project plans that streamlined operations and significantly reduced costs. His responsibilities included creating training sessions for stakeholders, optimizing functional and system performance testing, and establishing sustainable project workflows. Hon’s business acumen and analytical skills have consistently driven operational efficiency, making him a valued asset in each of his roles.
Prior to this, Hon was the lead business analyst for KAS Group Asia, where he coordinated a product lifecycle management project. Leading a cross-functional team of 10+, he worked with developers, product owners, and subject matter experts to refine vendor data management processes. This initiative eliminated manual processes, increased productivity, and streamlined vendor communication. Hon’s ability to build rapport and align project goals across diverse teams is central to his project management success.
Hon holds numerous certifications, including Certified Scrum Master, SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager, and ITIL, demonstrating his dedication to continuous learning and professional development. In addition, he holds Master’s degrees in International Business and Information Technology Management, which underscore his ability to effectively balance strategic and technical perspectives.
Fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, Hon’s intercultural communication skills will be invaluable to the Thrive in Canada team. His experience leading international teams aligns with RISEC’s mission to foster inclusive, innovative programs. With his cross-functional expertise, Hon is well-prepared to address the unique challenges and opportunities that come with community-centered project management.
